Russia is making ready to extend penalties for unregistered cryptocurrency mining.

In accordance with the revised draft of the Russian Prison Code, printed yesterday, people participating in cryptocurrency mining with out authorities permission face fines of as much as 1.5 million rubles (roughly $19,000) and as much as two years of obligatory labor.

The draft regulation consists of stricter penalties for high-profit unlawful mining actions. Accordingly, these participating in cryptocurrency mining that generates important earnings may withstand 5 years in jail, as much as 480 hours of obligatory labor, and fines of as much as 2.5 million rubles.

It’s also said that mining operations working outdoors the formal economic system and outlined as “organized teams” could face fines of as much as 2.5 million rubles, compelled labor for as much as 5 years, or imprisonment in the event that they obtain large-scale income.
